Kinesiology

History of Kinesiology
----------------------
Dr George Goodheart, an American chiropractor, founded kinesiology in 1964 by combining muscle testing with research on lymph flow, blood flow and the acupuncture meridian system. He founded International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK).

Dr John Thie, an original member of ICAK, developed Touch For Health (TFH), a Kinesiology programme for the lay person. Systematic Kinesiology has expanded further from the concepts of TFH, but still uses and teaches techniques researched by the physicians of ICAK.

What is Kinesiology?
--------------------
Kinesiology (pronounced kin-easy-ology) is a way of identifying any imbalances in a person by monitoring their ability to hold their muscles against light pressure (muscle testing).

Kinesiologists treat the body holistically covering structure, nutrition, emotions and energy. As they are all interlinked, treating one will affect all the others.

A kinesiologist uses muscle testing biofeedback to determine which is the right one to treat, tailoring a treatment unique to the individual.

Structural Health
-----------------
When muscles have been placed under excessive or prolonged stress, the muscles may not function optimally if sensors in the muscle have been over stressed and not returned to normal. This can lead to muscle weakness, stiffness and pain.

Correct functioning of the body also depends on the nerve signals getting from the brain to the body part without interruption. If there is a misalignment anywhere that can impede the nerve signal, then body receives a distorted signal. That can lead to ill health.

Sometimes, different parts of the body can come out of alignment with each other, so the body part isn't exactly where the brain expects it to be. That can lead to ill health.

Kinesiology has some gentle structural realignment techniques that can bring the body back to balance.

Nutritional Health
------------------
Until the sewage system was invented in the 1850's, whatever was excreted went back onto the land. Since then, crops are fertilized with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to help them grow, but the other minerals that are in the human manure are being flushed out to sea.

Because everyone is different, everyone will absorb the same nutrition at different rates. What may work well for one person may not work well for another. Guess why all the nutrition trials can come up with different results? They are tested on different people!!!

Kinesiology is able to determine which nutrition will suit each individual the best.

Emotional Health
----------------
People with good emotional health are in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviours. They feel positive about themselves and have good relationships. They can keep their problems in perspective. They have both self-awareness and self-control.

If you are (emotionally) stressed then that directly affects your physical health.

Kinesiology has techniques that help you put things into perspective and see solutions to problems that weren't apparent before. This improves your emotional health and overall health.

Energetic Health
----------------
Although science deals with energy on a daily basis, conventional medicine still considers the human being to be a mechanical body with no 'energy' component.

Kinesiology recognises that 'subtle' energy forms a part of holistic health. If the energy in an acupuncture meridian is blocked then that can lead to illness.

Other subtle energies, like auras and chakras may be out of balance, which can also lead to physical symptoms of ill health.

Kinesiology can detect and help rebalance subtle energies to improve your energetic health.

Everyday experiences
--------------------
Some days you can wake up in the morning and bounce out of bed feeling full of energy. That is when all your muscles are working.

Other days you can wake up feeling under the weather and struggle to get out of bed. Even though your body weight has not changed but it will 'feel' much heavier because the muscles are not working well.

On an average day, some muscles work well and others do not.

How Kinesiology can help you
----------------------------
A kinesiologist can detect those muscles that aren't working well and are keeping you from being 100% healthy.

Kinesiology is excellent at prevention because subclinical conditions often show up in muscle testing before manifesting as physical symptoms that require medical treatment.

Kinesiology is great at giving the body an 'MOT' because it checks for structural, nutritional, emotional and energetic imbalances.

Kinesiology excels at removing the stress that stops you from performing at 100%.

What can Kinesiology help?
--------------------------
Kinesiology can help with many conditions including the following:-

Accident trauma
Acne
Arthritis
Anxiety
Asthma
Back pain
Bloating
Breast pain and congestion
Constipation
Depression
Diahorrea
Digestive problems
Ear infections
Fatigue
Feeling low
Food cravings
Food sensitivities
Headaches
Irritable bowel syndrome
Learning problems
Migraines
Muscular aches and pains
Menstrual problems
Nausea
Neck pain
Phobias
Postural problems
Shoulder pain
Sinusitis
Sleep problems
Stress
Skin problems
Sports injuries
Weight problems

plus others too numerous to mention!!!

How the heck can you treat so many problems?
--------------------------------------------
Kinesiology seeks to treat the cause of the problem and not the symptoms. The symptoms or problems above are often just the weakest link the body's systems and is how the body is telling you something deeper is wrong. What Kinesiology endeavours to do is to get to and treat the cause of the problem rather than the surface symptoms. Once the core problem has been resolved then the symptoms will resolve themselves and the body comes back into balance and optimum health.
